The film explores Michael Caton-Jones' rise from his humble roots in the working class mining village of Broxburn, West Lothian to the dizzy heights of Hollywood, where he became one of Scotland's most successful Directors, while making hit movies including Memphis Belle, Doc Hollywood, This Boy's Life, Rob Roy and The Jackal.
